Porsche 911 "Speedy" Gummies Are Made by Maria Sharapova

Everybody knows that today's top athletes only get a fraction of their money from the sports they've mastered. The best example of this is David Beckham, who turned his soccer career into a personal franchise. However, we learned today that tennis legend Maria Sharapova has a line of gummy bears/cars. It's totally random, very cool and we're going to turn it into a story.

Sharapova is undoubtedly Porsche's most famous brand ambassador. So even though she doesn't drive as well as Mark Webber, the Germans turned a blind eye when she launched Sugarpova, a brand of candy inspired by Porsche.

In fact, most of the gunnies made by the Sugarpova are shaped like tennis balls, but the ones we are showing you look like the Porsche 911. We could argue that they replicate the iconic shape of the air-cooled models, but that's not really important.

Those of you who follow the Porsche brand religiously or are Sharapova fans will know she was given a number of awesome Stuttgart creations over the years. These include a custom-built Panamera GTS and the 911 Targa. Of course, she can afford to buy any cars she wants and these candies will help line her pockets as well.

The Sugarpova brand was launched in 2014 to celebrate Maria Sharapova’s 27th birthday on April 19th.

“We are so excited to launch Speedy,” said Maria Sharapova, Founder and Creative Director of Sugarpova. “There has never been a candy collection that envelops a luxury experience in such a fun and accessible way. As an ambassador for Porsche, it’s thrilling for me to combine my passions in such a totally unexpected and exciting way.”

At $6 a bag, she would need to sell about 20,000 bags of them to earn the money for a new Porsche. Still, it's nice to see an athlete that can do something creative and frankly very cute with her personal time, not just post Instagram photos of her diamond watch collection. But you'd better not quit the day job Maria!
