Porsche 911 Limited Edition Expected for 2010

Growing rumors circulate in the online media, saying a new limited edition Porsche 911 Carrera 4S-based will arrive next year. The new special model is said to be a throwback to the 1984 911 Carrera Supersport.

The limited edition is believed to be have a Carrera 4S widebody style, but with a Carrera 2S drive train, a double bubble roof and several original reminiscent 911 Supersport features like a tea-tray spoiler, 911 Turbo suspension and brakes. Other features believed to appear on the new limited edition model, include GT-3 style front and rear bumpers, jalopnik.com reported.

While no official information has been released about the technical specifications, rumors say it will probably feature 911 Turbo performance upgrades or a special Porsche factory power kit that will raise both horsepower and top speed. If this turns out to be true, we don't know how “green” the car will be, but we do anticipate it will be very fast.

Other “inside information” speak of a set of Fuchs-style wheels for the limited edition as well as a gray paint job. For the interior, it's expected the car will have a brown leather trim to retain the original look and feel of the '80s 911 Supersport.

The old “Turbo-look” as the 911 Supersport was called, saw very strong sales in the United States, because it very much resembled the Porsche 930 Turbo that wasn't available at the time for the North American market.

The price for the limited edition 911 Supersport is rumored to be around 135,000 pounds (aprox. $220,000) and the car is expected to arrive sometime next year.
