Porsche 911 Humiliates Bentley Continental GT in Drag Race

Let's start this story by saying even we were expecting a Bentley Continental GT to be way faster than a regular Porsche 911. Sure, it weighs as much as a one-bedroom apartment, but the flying B has a W12 engine under its bonnet, plus all-wheel drive and the pride of Britain pushing it along.

And yet here it is, being beaten by a Porsche model that's way down on… well, everything.

Auto Express, who recently organized this and many other drag races on an airfield in Edinburgh, say the Porsche 911 model is a Carrera with 350 horsepower and rear-wheel drive. It is possible, since Porsche offers an aftermarket exhaust with four pipes, but it's far more likely that this is actually a Carrera S with 400 horsepower. Still, 50 extra hp shouldn't count when the GT has twice as many cylinders and turbos as well helping it deliver 575 PS.

The Bentley loses the lead right off the line and never gets it back. By the end of the race, a galloping Stuttgart horse can be seen with a huge lead over its British rival.

If we look at the numbers on paper, the result seems far less shocking. A standard Bentley GT gets to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds, while a 911 Carrera can be a little faster (4.4 seconds in Sport+). The B has a slightly higher top speed of 319 km/h (198 mph), while the 3.4-liter flat-6 runs out of juice at 287 km/h (178 mph). That's why we're so convinced this is the Carrera S, which tops at 304 km/h (189 mph).

Well done little Porsche! If somebody ever tells you that the 911 is overpriced, just show him this video which proves it's better than a car costing twice as much.
