In the infinity that is the Porsche 911 line-up, the GT3 has always been worthy of praise thanks to its uber-balanced nature. We're not just talking about the kind of driving experience it delivers but also about the fact that, granted you have the money for one, you can actually buy it without having to befriend your dealer or turn to the sharks running the speculation market, as it often happens with spicier Neunelfers such as the GT3 RS or the 911 R.
Given this real-world positioning of the GT3, we can't help but feel swept off our feet when checking out the image above. The pic, which comes from US Porsche specialist BBi Autosport, shows all GT3 generations in a garage.

Front left to right, we have the 996.2, the current 991.1, the 997.1, as well as what appears to be a 997.2 GT3 with GT3 RS-inspired engine lid and rear wing.

This would mean the pic brings together all the 911 GT3 generations offered on the North American market so far, as the 996.1 which started the GT3 road car saga was for European eyes only.

At the moment, the GT3 is missing from the 911 range displayed on the Porsche website, as Zuffenhausen is working to complete the development of the 991.2 mid-cycle revamp for the track-savvy rear-engined coupe.

Perhaps the most important change brought by the "facelift" will be the presence of a manual as an option, which has already been confirmed by the German automaker. However, the efficiency-targeting 7-speed manual of the Carrera models won't be the chosen one, with Porsche opting for the 911 R's velocity-focused six-speed instead.

In fact, if you've missed our latest GT3 spyshots, you can find them here. The new GT3 is expected to land later in the year, so you have plenty of time to get up to speed.
