Porsche 911 GT3 RS Walks Jaguar F-Type R in a Drag Race Like It's Nothing

We have to admit that, when we came across the drag race shown in the video at the bottom of the page, we expected the Porsche to be the winner. However, this straight line adventure raised more than one eyebrow in our office thanks to the categorical manner in which the Rennsport machine walks the Jaguar.
The two met during a recent event held on an airfield runway, with the supercars engaging in a rolling start battle.

Interestingly, the expectations we mentioned above were fueled by various episodes we've experienced rather than theory. That's because the on-paper situation might make the 911 GT3 RS PDK and the F-Type R seem evenly matched.

We'll start with the all-important power-to-weight ratio. In this area, the 500 hp Rennsport Neunelfer dominates the 550-pony Jag, since the Porscha offers 3.1 kg per hp, while the Brit comes with 3.4 kg per hp.

Nevertheless, the five-liter supercharged V8 of the F-Type is in a completely different league than the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six of the 911 when it comes to the maximum torque figure: we're talking 501 lb-ft (680 Nm) versus 354 lb-ft (460 Nm).

So, sticking to spec-type racing, does the torque advantage of the ZF eight-speed auto Jaguar make up for the power-to-weight dominance of the seven-speed PDK Porsche?

The numbers speak for themselves. Let's take the quarter mile sprint, for instance. The F-Type R needs at least 11.7 seconds to cover this, while the 911 GT3 RS can complete the same task in 11.1 seconds.

Nevertheless, while the output and weight numbers might not explain the performance difference too well, if we factor in the massive price gap between the two, it all starts to make sense - in MSRP terms, the Jag starts at $108,595, while the Porsche sits at $175,900, so this would be enough of a distance, but we also have to add the fact that nobody ever bought a GT3 RS for its MSRP.

P.S.: While the whole clip is worthy of your attention, make sure you focus on what happens at the 2:00 point.
