A drag race pitting a Porsche 911 GT3 RS against a BMW 335i wouldn't make too much sense, but if the Bimmer happens to be the sleeper kind, things suddenly become spectacular.
This is precisely what happens in the piece of footage we have here, which brings us a brawl involving a GT3 RS PDK and an E92 (you know, the previous generation) 335i whose straight-six had been gifted with a turbo kit.
The two German velocity animals got together on airfield, with one simple goal, namely to see which one of them is faster in a straight line.
Now, before we move any further, allow us to drop the list of mods on the 3 Series Coupe. The Palm Turbos stage 1 package is aided by an exhaust setup involving a Supersprint catback setup, Ultimate Racing downpipes and 200-cell Magnaflow sport cats. Then we have the VTT intake tube inlets, a Walbro 455 fuel pump, as well as a BQ Tuning ECU remap that keeps everything in check.
For the record, this forced-fed 3er hasn't been dynoed, but estimated place it somewhere in the 600 pony area.
As for the Rennsport Neunelfer we have here, the Zuffenhausen machine is 100 percent stock, which means we're dealing with 500 naturally aspirated horses.
However, we must keep in mind that the aggressive PDK setup is enough to give the rear-engined coupe a stunning "take-off" - the quotes are here since the two engaged in a rolling start brawl. The Porscha's gear ratios are calibrated for the track, so low to upper-mid-level sprinting is its specialty.
Since we don't want to spoil the fun of the clip, we won't elaborate on the "surprise" part of the title, but we can tell you this much: if you happen to be the kind who enjoys making bets, you'd better skip your passion on this occasion.
Nevertheless, we bet many of you will adore the way in which the Lava Orange hue of the GT3 RS is reflected in the Bimmer's brake rotors.
