Porsche 911 GT3 RS PDK Strips, Exposed Engine Bay Shows 4L Flat-Six in Action

Open the engine compartment lid on a contemporary Porsche 911 and all you'll see is a pair of fans and two filler caps for the engine's fluids. Understandably, when you own a special model, such as the GT3 RS, the frustration of not being able to see the 4.0-liter unit occupying the posterior of the machine is even greater.

Well, that issue has now been solved. No, we haven't come up with a secret access path to the 991's engine compartment. But we have the next best thing, which is a piece of footage that takes us straight into the lair of a GT3 RS' boxer.

The exposed engine compartment allows us to see the flat-six at work, albeit at idle revs. Those wondering about the potential of this machine's soundtrack should know the owner plans to install an Akrapovic exhaust once the powerplant is broken in.

Speaking of which, this is a GT3 RS like no other and it might seem familiar. That's because we recently talked about this Neunelfer thanks to its custom feature.

The British owner of the car, Instagram user woppum, wasn't satisfied with the White hue offered by the factory, so he turned to Porsche Center Reading for a complete respray - hence the open engine bay.

As you can see, the shade of Orange used on this GT3 RS is quite different from the car's Lava Orange launch color. In fact, the custom hue is called Worrange, fitting the man's online nickname.

This 911 GT3 RS also splits opinions like no other, since its driver wanted to enjoy special aural sensations while behind the wheel. As a result, the Neunelfer is being fitted with an aftermarket audio system. However, the part that requires attention has to do with a pair of 10-inch subwoofers being installed in the back. Sacrilege or not? We'll let you be the judge here.
