Sometimes, money can't buy happiness, even if the good times you're seeking do happen to be for sale. Case in point with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
Perhaps the $175,900 MSRP of the PDK-gifted track machine wasn't out of your league, but with Zuffenhausen only building 2,000 units per year, many were left with the bank accounts untouched. And not all those people were willing to spend $400,000 for a GT3 RS on the speculation market.

Well, now there's a simpler way to enjoy the charms of this Rennsport Neunelfer. One that also applies to us, the many enthusiasts who couldn't afford one even if we'd manage to achieve the impossible and convince a salesman to offer the car for its MSRP.

This occasion involves a visit to the Nurburgring (obviously), where the current 991 incarnation of the GT3 RS has entered the RSRNurburg fleet - we're dealing with a rental company that offers plenty of high-velocity machines for those brave enough to lap the Nordschleife at a stellar pace. You know, the kind of agitation that can cause inexperienced drivers (in terms of car control and/or 'Ring layout) to turn their machines into piles of scrap metal.

Such a rear-engined adventure starts at €3,099 (make that $3497 at the current exchange rate). Given the details mentioned above, enjoying two dozen laps on the 'Ring in Porsche's current halo track tool for such a price seem reasonable.

However, we're also ready to bet that certain aficionados would like to make a different sort of convention and see the rental price mentioned above as a quarter of the price of a decent-condition first-generation Boxster.

Oh well, at least both camps can take pleasure in seeing the GT3 RS going for a bit of drifting on the Nurburgring in the clip below - like most things out there, the Green Hell is slippery when wet.
