The Cayman GT4’s debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show was only the warm-up for Porsche’s parade in Switzerland. Now, the 911 GT3 RS is here which means Porsche just called in the cavalry.
We’ll enjoy the car later, but for now we want you to know what the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is all about. So get ready for heavy stuff. In fact, here’s some to begin with: the new 911 GT3 RS has the largest-displacement and the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine the 911 family has ever seen.

There are 500 HP and 338 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque coming out of that 4.0-liter flat-six engine which has been mated to the brand new PDK dual-clutch transmission. The gearbox also has two added functions: “paddle neutral” - which acts like depressing the clutch as if the car had a standard manual gearbox and Pit Speed - for track usage.

Porsche invested a lot in weight reduction by giving the 911 GT3 RS a magnesium roof and carbon fiber for the trunk and engine lids. In fact, the RS model is 22 pounds (10 kg) lighter than the 911 GT3. This and the perfectly tuned engine-transmission duo are responsible for a sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) done in 3.3 seconds.

Styling-wise, Porsche engineers worked closely with designers and found the best compromise for enhanced racing performance: a wide, low and aggressive body kit plus a giant rear wing and vents in the wheel arches to boost downforce on the front axle.

Inside, the driving experience starts by just looking at the roll cage and the carbon-fiber bucket seats inspired from the ones used by the 918 Spyder hybrid supercar. You know next in line is the GT3 RS’s price tag, so there you have it: $175,900, without the $995 destination charge. You can order it now, but expect it to arrive in the US in early July.
