Ladies and gentlemen drivers, we are now enjoying the final days of the 2018 Nurburgring season, with the infamous German track set to close its gates for the winter later this month. And, despite the cold weather, one can still enjoy the track - we're here to showcase an example of this, one that involves a Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
We're talking about a 991.1 incarnation of the Neunelfer, but we have to note that the rear-engined toy doesn't come in stock form. This Zuffenhausen toy has been gifted with a few circuit-friendly touches, with the car being run by the Ring-savvy crew over at Team Schirmer.
As for the driving conditions of the rear-engined machine, the traffic was present, as you'll get to notice in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, which documents the run.
The clip is focused on what happens in front of the car, but also gives us a view of the driver, albeit a limited one - we would've preferred a camera angle showcasing the steering wheel and pedal inputs.
Nevertheless, this video can be used as a lesson for choosing one's lines through the corners that define the German circuit.
The aficionado behind the wheel took to the YouTube description of the video to let us know that the air temperature sat at 8 degrees Celsius. He also talked about the tires, letting it slip that these had already been punished for 70 laps of the Green Hell.
Even so, the flat-six wielder managed to lap the track in 7:08, albeit while using the Bridge To Gantry layout of the track - this is the Touristenfahrten (Tourist Days) layout, which skips the main straight.
Speaking of the Porsche 911, we'll remind you that Porsche itself recently used the end of the season to set a new lap record and make sure nobody gets to challenge this until next spring, when the 2019 Ring season kicks off.
We're referring to the 7:40 chronograph number delivered by the 911 GT2 RS MR. Modded by Porsche-owned Manthey Racing, the 700 horsepower toy packs a few aero and chassis tweaks.
And the said lap time makes it the quickest street-legal sportscar around the Green Hell.
