Porsche 911 GT3 (991) Fire Epidemic Coming?

About three years ago, there wasn't a single month to go by without some media outlet reporting yet another Ferrari spontaneous combustion, with a couple of Lamborghini models jumping on the self-immolation bandwagon as well.

Well, it seems that the Italians aren't the only ones cursed with this kind of negative coverage, as seemingly-perfect Porsche might be starting to get some unwanted fiery publicity as well.

According to Axis of Oversteer, it seems that the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer has recently suspended delivery of any 911 GT3 (991) cars until further notice.

The reason for the their odd behavior is apparently the fact that a number of MY2014 911 GT3 models (some sources say five, so far) have spontaneously caught fire because of a quality issue connected to the screaming flat-six engine in the rear.

The latest and so far only properly-documented Porsche 911 GT3 (991) self-incineration took place in Switzerland (photo above) and details about the incident can be found on the St. Gallen Police website.
