Porsche 911 GT2 with Custom Turbos Is No GT2 RS, But It's The Next Best Thing

We don't get to talk about modified Porsche 911 GT2s that often (here's the last example we gave you), so when one of these Zuffenhausen beasts shows up, we'll certainly want to share it with you.
Case in point with the 997 in the video below, whose owner wanted even more power - with the GT2 basically being a more muscular Turbo without the added All-Wheel-Drive traction assets, the obvious upgrade it needs is one under the hood, right?

Don't get us wrong, though. We need to show a bit of understanding for owners who take their GT2s to the gym. After all, the go-fast industry has reached a point where the 520 hp factory output of such a 997 no longer seems that special.

Returning to the machine we have here, the 3.6-liter flat-six at its back has been gifted with custom turbos, so a set of dyno runs was mandatory. The piece of footage at the bottom of the page gives us just that, allowing us to see the Porscha in all its fury. The soundtrack is obviously on the house.

Numbers fans will be thrilled to find out this GT2 gained 50 hp and 100 lb-ft (make that 135 Nm, you metric system fans), but, unlike the crank number mentioned above, these are the values at the rear wheels. The clip also provides the dyno results, so you can check out the power and torque curves of this Neunelfer.

And if we factor in the manual gearbox associated with the GT2 label, the whole adventure becomes even spicier. With Porsche having brought us the 991 GT3 and GT3 RS in PDK-only form, all clutch-gifted 911 specials, from the 996s onwards, have seen their value rising, so this GT2 is worthy of our undivided attention.

P.S.: Speaking of stick shift Porsches, here's GT division boss Andreas Preuninger's personal 911 R.
