The Porsche 911 used to be known as the widow maker back in the days before the 996 chassis. Stock brokers routinely wrapped themselves around trees at high speed roundabouts as having the engine in the back meant it usually got away from the more inexperienced drivers.
However, we now have modern all-wheel drive and advanced traction control, plus a much more neutral setup, so the Stuttgart is no longer as dangerous. But for those willing to risk it all, Porsche still offered the 911 GT2 RS, combining the twin-turbo 3.8-liter from the 911 Turbo with the rear-wheel drive of a Carrera S. It’s about as close to a race car as you can get, and this shows.
Nobody knows the full story, but it seems this GT2 RS was crashed by somebody in North Virginia or Carolina crashed this red 2011 GT2 RS just four hours after he he bought it.
The car was reportedly airborne when it hit a semi-truck at 160 mph (258 km/h). We have no information about the driver, but the crash doesn’t look or sound survivable. The GT2 had a roll cage and racing seatbelts but the cabin is completely caved in. You can’t even see where the dash used to be any more.
