Let's think of the handling balance and overall driving experience delivered by the 997-gen Porsche 911 for a moment (for instance, this was the last Neunelfer offered with a hydraulic steering). Now let's switch to the kind of sensations that come from a hot rod - why are we doing this exercise? Well, the goal is to imagine a mix between the two genres, if we might call them so.
In fact, there's more to the story than this, as the contraption portrayed in the Instagram posts at the bottom of the page is a Porsche 911 that has been given the rat rod treatment.

At first, one might think such a project makes for one of the many extreme-mod renderings that populate the web nowadays. And while the build is based on a render, the thing is as real as they get.

We've talked about this 997-gen Neunelfer ever since it was just a toy in front of a castle. The project is taking shape and the update we have here is quite serious.

Much to purists' desperation, the Zuffenuahsen machine has lost its flat-six. Instead, the frunk opf the machine now accommodates a V8. Oh dear...

The Porsche 911 Cabriolet is now animated by a 5.7-liter HEMI. And to make sure there's enough muscle, the V8 works with a supercharger.

As mentioned above, the top of this Carrera Cabriolet has been chopped, but this doesn't look like the kind of job the German camraker did with the 991.2 911 Speedster (check out the build pics and you'll understand).

Oh, and let's not forget he monstrous wheels, which set the car apart on their own.

A French shop called Danton Arts Kustoms, which is run by Alexandre Danton, is the one behind the build. And if you think this 997 Porsche 911 is blasphemy, you should check out the Lamborghini Espada the label worked on.
