Porsche has announced that it will make a hybrid version of the 911 before it launches the production version of the Mission-E. The statement links the next generation of the 911 to a hybrid version.
The carmaker confirms that the 911 will get a hybrid propulsion system in a video posted on the company’s official Twitter account. The clip shows Dr. Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board at Porsche AG, and Mr. Lutz Meschke, a board member at Porsche AG, discussing company results and plans.

The possibility of a Porsche 911 hybrid version has been under discussion for several years, and company officials have revealed that every model in their range will eventually get a hybrid version.

As Porsche officials explained some time ago, the current generation of the 911 was “unsuitable” for a hybrid version. Meanwhile, with the facelift of the 911 launched, Porsche engineers have already begun testing the prototypes of the upcoming generation of the iconic sports car. It is believed that it will be the first 911 to feature a hybrid version.

The explanation for this information is linked to the widened front and rear track of the prototype of the upcoming model. Allegedly, the German sports car required a width increase to accommodate a hybrid system, including a battery.

The latest news from Porsche on the matter reveals that the company is focusing on the 911 Hybrid, and on the production version of the Mission-E. The latter will be Porsche’s first electric car.

Since the carmaker’s officials have previously confirmed that every model in their range will eventually get a hybrid option, it will not be long until the new Boxster and Cayman receive such versions as well. So far, the German brand has successfully introduced hybrid versions of the Cayenne SUV and the Panamera four-door, as well as the 918 Spyder, a hybrid hypercar.

Given the company’s expertise in designing performance models, we have no doubt that the upcoming hybrid version of the 911 will be an exciting car to drive.
