The new 991 generation of the Porsche 911 has been gathering tons and tons of attention even before it was launched and now the rear-engined coupe is back under the spotlights, this time for posting an impressive quarter mile time.
A 911 Carrera S was put through its paces on a drag strip in the US, with the result being a time of 12.04 seconds. The adjacent clip, which was uploaded by Youtube user NueVuePhotography, shows the entire feat, bringing the stopwatch fight to us.
We’ll remind you that the rear-wheel drive Carrera S uses a 3.8-liter flat six that produces 400 hp, being matted to a seven-speed PDK double clutch gearbox. The optional Sport Chrono pack allows the car to deal with the 0 to 62 mph sprint in 4.1 seconds, while its top speed sits at 189 mph (304 km/h).
