Zuffenhausen engineers are working overtime to complete the development of the special facelifted 991.2 Porsche 911 incarnations and we're here to talk about the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet.
The open-top Porscha was recently spied testing on the Nurburgring, with the I-see-you episode including a delicious drift performed by the Mk II 991. Sure, drifting isn't allowed on the Nurburgring, but when talking about manufacturer test days such as the one here, the drivers have to do whatever is required by the development process.

After all, with sliding having almost become sine qua non for go-fast machine drivers nowadays, carmakers have to ensure their upcoming machines are prepared for every possible slip angle shenanigan.

Returning to the GTS we have here, the badge should see Porsche delivering a new incarnation of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six at the back of the 991.2 Carrera S. And since the latter packs 420 hp, we can expect at least 450 hp from the newcomer.

As for the visual side of the spied prototype, the German automaker no longer bothers hiding the 991.2 details, since plenty of revamped models are already on the market. However, we're not sure why this test car is missing the air intakes on the rear wings.

The 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet is the kind of vehicle that shows the kind of fantastic results Porsche can deliver. For one thing, we're dealing with a bit of a contradiction here.

In theory, the open-top approach should mean some of the sharpness of the coupe is lost. Well, not only are German engineers working to ensure this doesn't happen, but the GTS badge is here to ensure this Cabriolet delivers a boost (no pun intended) of driving pleasure. Speaking of which, we'll remind you the automaker has even built an online GTS community, with one of its aims being to share the best driving routes in the world.

Sticking to the three-letter badge, just last week we showed you a 991.2 Targa 4 GTS test car being driven on the road, so the sighting brought by the piece of footage at the bottom of the page only seems natural.
