Porsche’s Los Angeles Auto Show booth has a strong aroma this year, thanks to the Gran Turismo Sport bouquet, which is obviously led by the 911 Carrera GTS, but includes the just-as-fresh 2015 Cayenne GTS, as well as the Cayman and Boxster GTS. Thus, it’s no wonder that LA was painted Carmine Red, the traditional GTS hue, this year.
For those who think the 911 GT3 is too hardcore but don’t want to go with one of the... regular incarnations of the Neunelfer, Porsche now offers the GTS. At the rear of the latest 911 to join the line-up, we find the Carrera S’ 3.8-liter flat six, which has been massaged to pack an extra 30 hp (output sits at 430 hp).

Perhaps the easiest way to recognize a 911 Carrera GTS is by the sounds of its exhaust. As always with this label, the aural experience is exquisite. As for the performance, the 0 to 62 mph sprint is covered in 4 seconds (4.2 for the Cabriolet), while the stop speed sits at 186 mph (300 km/h). The centerlock wheels are on the house and so is Porsche's list of the most thrilling driving roads in the world.

2015 Cayenne GTS and 2015 Cayenne

As for the 2015 Cayenne GTS, the mid-cycle revamp marks the switch from natural aspiration to turbine forced feeding. Instead of the 4.8-liter NA V8, we now have a tweaked version of the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 on the Cayenne S, itself borrowed from the Macan Turbo. Power is up 20 hp to 440 hp, while torque is boosted by 63 lb-ft (85 Nm) to a meaty 443 lb-ft (600 Nm).

Somewhere in Porsche’s line-up we also find the entry-level Cayenne, which, ironically, is now the only NA model in the range. A boost of 10 hp sees the output rise to 300 horses. More importantly, the eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic gearbox now offers a coasting function.

The Carmine Red assault was completed by the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS. While the two are one cool pair, we have to be honest here and admit everybody is waiting for the Cayman GT4.
