Despite having already rolled out all the street-destined, as well as the racing versions of the 991-generation 911, Porsche is still ready to squeeze one more in its line-up before going ahead and introducing the facelifted model. We are talking about the Black Edition.
In fact, this all-dark treatment is not limited to the 911 Coupe and Cabriolet, also being offered for the Boxster. For obvious reasons though, we’ll start with the Neunelfer.
The Black Edition can be had in Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera Cabriolet or Carrera 4 Cabriolet forms. So, regardless of the Coupe-Cabriolet or RWD-4WD choice, you’ll end up with the 350 HP 3.4-liter flat-six.
Aside from the obvious black finish, you also receive 20-inch 911 Turbo wheels, which remain silver. The list also includes LED headlights featuring the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+) with black inner graphics.
Climbing aboard, we find heated sports seats, a Bose Sound System (this is the mid-point between the standard system the Burmeister range-topper. Also, the vehicle features a Porsche Communication Management infotainment system with navigation, a telephone module, as well as Park Assist front rear, which mixes sensors with a rear-view camera.
A Sport Design steering wheel, automatically dimming rear-view mirrors, rain sensor and cruise control complete the list of standard features.
The black exterior theme means that the canvas roof and the rollover protection bar also use the color. At the same time, the 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels remain silver, as in the case of the 911 Black Edition.
The bi-xenon headlights use the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) with black interior graphics. As for the list of standard goodies found inside the car, this includes a Sound Package Plus, heated seats and a two-zone AC.
While Porsche hasn’t announced the US pricing for the Black Edition models, the details for Europe have been released. The bespoke 911 and Boxster are set to hit the market on May 18. While the Boxster Black Edition starts at EUR59,477, the 911 Black Edition ranges between EUR95,058 for the Carrera to EUR111,956 for the Carrera 4 Cabriolet. The prices do include VAT.
