Porsche has pushed the new 911 firmly into the 21st century, but has not forgotten its heritage. That's a bit of an understatement, since the Stuttgart carmaker relies heavily on its classic appeal, never missing an opportunity to sell us a nostalgic special edition.
The 50th anniversary of the iconic 911 is a huge opportunity for them to attract buyers, and they will surely do so with the 50th Anniversary Special Edition. Based on the 911 Carrera S, this has a few classic touches, like wider hips and a special alloys and chrome trim. However, power remains the sale 400 hp for the flat-six 3.8-liter engine.
Porsche didn't tell us how many of the 1,963 examples to be produced will be headed to the US, but it did reveal that prices will start at $124,100, not including a $950 destination charge. That's a whole lot more than the $98,900 of the standard Carrera S.
