Porsche 718 Cayman S Chased by Six Race Drones in Dune-like Hunter-Seeker Game

Remember 1984's Dune movie? Not too many people do and it's understandable, since you kind of needed to read the book(s) for the motion picture to make real sense. So, what does Frank Herbert's universe have to do with the Porsche part of  the title above?

We need to drop one extra Dune-related detail before talking about the Zuffenhausen affair - earlier this week, Dune fans received a stellar piece of news, as word spread about Legendary Entertainment, the name that brought us productions such as The Dark Knight or Interstellar, acquiring the rights to Herbert's sci-fi work. All we know is that we should get a new movie/animation or TV series, but now, thanks to Porsche, we have something to quench our Dune thirst with.

Tha's because the latest 718 Cayman stunt delivered by Porsche appears to resemble an adventure where a target, say Paul Atreides, rushed to escape a hunter-seeker.

While Dune's deadly compact floating contraptions were controlled by an operator sitting close to the target of the assassination, in the ad we have here we get to see six drone operators chasing a mid-engined Porsche and aiming to take it down.

In this game, a 718 Cayman S had more than one chance to escape and, whenever a drone triggered the proximity sensors installed on the vehicle, the sportscar would lose one of its three lives.

The Cayman had to go through a series of checkpoints, with a rallying-like driver-codriver setup inside. The wheel man role went to Mauro Carlo, the guy who, in our book, still holds the record for the world's longest drift at 1.44 miles of perpetual sliding (his 2011 record fell back in 2014, but the new stunt was done in the wet, while Mauro achieved his on a dry track).

As for the one providing the instructions, we're dealing with Ali-A. The YouTube gamer's resume includes 8.6 million subscribers and that's only on his main channel.

You can enjoy the 718 Cayman S action in the first clip below, while the Ali-A video underneath it delivers a behind-the-scenes take.

P.S.: Don't tell Porsche we said this, but the chase would've been even more immersive had the 718 Cayman S packed a mechanical handbrake as a factory option.
