Porsche 356 Outlaw “Poco Bastardo” Isn’t Your Regular Classic Car

There are classic cars, then there are restomods. While classics have this “old world” feeling to them, restomods are way more than just a nod to times long gone past. They are individual entities just as no two humans are alike.

While the styling isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, air-cooled Porsches modified in what enthusiasts call Outlaw style are spellbinding machines. One of those Outlaw cars is the 1962 Porsche 356 B T6 in the adjacent gallery. It somewhat resembles those go-faster 356s that took the Carrera Panamericana head on, doesn’t it? Offered for sale by Porsche specialist Paul Stephens, the so-called “Poco Bastardo” isn’t a rip-off of James Dean’s Porsche (the “Little Bastard”).

Even though the name is shared between this 356 and the American actor’s 550 Spyder, “‘Poco Bastardo’ is a nickname used to describe the 356 for its giant slaying capabilities against more powerful machinery” in the Carrera Panamericana. That said, what makes the Outlaw Coupe so special?

First of all, the current owner acquired the car in March 2011. Immediately after buying it, the 1962 Porsche 356 B T6 was sent to P R Services Ltd in Billericay, Essex, where a nut-and-bolt restoration was performed together with the Outlaw makeover.

Since it was finished in April 2012, the current owner took his pride and joy to lightweight classic rallies and tours such as Tour Britannia, The Three Castles, and Throckmorton Challenge. Four years after completion, the odometer shows a mere 4,500 miles (7,242 kilometers).

Other than the badass exterior and no-nonsense interior revamp, the “Poco Bastardo” boasts xenon headlights, black bison quilted leather, a bolt-in half roll cage, fully rebuilt suspension with adjustable Koni shocks, electric power steering, disc brakes all around, a manual with a long 4th for highway cruising, as well as a 110 bhp boxer with Shasta pistons and Solex carbs.

Pretty sweet thing, isn’t it?
