Now that the Crown Vic has reached its retirement point, some of us might develop an unexpected feeling of nostalgia for the not-that-fast V8 sedan that has served and protected us over the years.
Perhaps a good way to quench your Crown Victoria thirst would be to watch the footage below, which shows us one of these Blue Oval machines that has found its true calling now that it no longer enforces the law.

The machine has gone down the drag racing path, with the transformation being a serious one.

The tech side of the speedy ex-police car

We don’t have any info on what lies under the hood, but, judging by the vehicle’s drag strip performance, we expect this Ford to pack over 900 hp. All that power is sent to the prepped surface of the drag strip using a pair of custom tires, the kind that would tell a five-year-old he’s dealing with a muscle monster.

A wheelie bar and a hood scoop the size of Texas are also included. We didn’t mention the Lone Star State by accident - that’s where this Crown Victoria managed to pull a 6.5s 1/8-mile run.

The run took place at the North Star Dragway and was included in the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge.

While that time is not memorable, we can say we’re dealing with respectable performance. Then again, we mustn’t forget this is police car we’re talking about.

Guess we can still call the senior Ford that way, especially since the vehicle still displays the typical elements. From the color scheme to the decals and even the light bar, there’s no mistaking this Crown Vic for a civilian vehicle.

It’s just that the driver has other things to look out for than the custody of his rear passengers. Oh, and the canine unit is missing.
