Police Car Line-Up at Classic Motor Show

The upcoming 2009 Classic Motor Show, held November 13 to 15 at Birmingham will witness a somewhat odd display of six british Police cars, but not the ones you see on the road today, but those which criminals back in the '50s had to battle.

The Police Car UK stand at the event will host some both rare and unique cars: an MGA roadster from Lancashire, a Humber Super Snipe estate from Hampshire (the last one in existence), a Jaguar 340 from Somerset & Bath, a Range Rover from Greater Manchester a Rover SD1 from London, and a Series III Jaguar XJ6 from Hampshire.

Of course, not only these vintage police cars will be attending. The more modern vehicles employed by the UK police will side with the ones in the former line-up, for a sight we frankly believe it's worth a look.

"We plan to have two ‘sides’ to our stand, one side for the older vehicles and one for the more modern ones, and hope to represent this as the two carriageways,” Stuart Exelby from Police Car UK said when announcing the line-up.

If right-hand drive police cars aren't exactly your thing, additional police vehicles belonging to forces outside the UK will also be attending. A rare 1958 Porsche 356A, formerly used by the Austrian police will also be present.

We understand this is the only one left from just three made for the Austrian police and only 16 worldwide. It comes complete with the uniform worn by its original driver, as well as his warrant card and handheld stop-sign,” Helen Goff from Die Deutschen Klassiker, the owners of the Porsche, added.
