Volvo is presently one of the best-seen carmakers in the industry. Over the past years, despite the future some were envisioning for the Swedes not long ago, the company has blossomed under Chinese rule, launching a series of high-profile cars and spinning off Polestar, one of the most active tuners/EV makers on the market.
Whereas Polestar is officially in the business of making electric vehicles, its reach still expands to Volvo cars, just like back when it was directly under the carmaker’s umbrella. Volvo announced last summer some of its vehicles would be tweaked and improved by Polestar, and the lines have not stopped rolling since.
Using the Polestar Engineered logo, the cars are upgraded with new or better parts that range from wheels, brakes, and suspension all to way to the engine control unit. The first car to get the treatment in 2018 was the S60 sports sedan, but the range has expanded quickly since then.
This week, the entire range of S60, V60 and XC60 T8 handled by Polestar hit the European market, having launched in the UK and marking a significant step forward for the new generation cars.
Starting from £56,105 for the S60 and going as high as £64,545 for the XC60, these unique cars come with things like an upgraded version of the T8 twin engine plug-in hybrid powertrain, with a total output of 405 hp (up from the standard 390 hp), Brembo or Akebono brakes, Öhlins adjustable shock absorbers, lightweight forged alloy wheels and a retuned automatic transmission.
Each of these Polestar Engineered models become as of this week the top of the range in their respective families.
“These new Polestar Engineered cars perfectly illustrate Volvo’s approach to electrified performance,” said in a statement Matt Galvin, Volvo Car UK’s Sales Director.
“By combining a powerful plug-in hybrid set-up with the engineering expertise of Polestar, they offer scintillating performance with the ability to run in electric-only mode, thus creating no tailpipe emissions.”
The details on all three cars can be found in the press release section below.
