The 2010 Geneva Motor Show due to debut in March will witness the European debut of the plug-in Suzuki Swift that was revealed for the first time at the Tokyo Motor Show last year. The car is powered by an electric unit developing 54 kW (72.4HP) and powered by lithium-ion batteries. Additionally, the car employs a 660cc engine that recharges the batteries when running low.
According to data provided by the Japanese manufacturer, the Swift Plug-in hybrid can travel on electricity alone around 20 kilometers.
"Swift Plug-in Hybrid is ideal for drivers who travel low mileages of around 20km every day and is designed to be driven primarily on electric power," Suzuki said in a release back in October when releasing the first details of the car.
Besides the plug-in Swift, Suzuki will also showcase the new Kizashi for the first time in Europe, with the car to go on sale in Switzerland this year. It comes equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 131 kW (175 horsepower) and 230 Nm of torque. Suzuki's four-wheel drive system i-AWD is offered as standard.
The new Grand Vitara, in both 3- and 5-door configuration, will also attend the show.
"Coming without spare tire at the tailgate, the urban cross-country vehicle will present itself in an even more stylish shape making it more suitable for city driving. Nevertheless, the newly designed rear gate still underlines the original lifestyle SUV’s inherent 4x4 capability and well-proportioned body of the Grand Vitara," Suzuki said in a press release about the new model.
