Platune and Sand-X Promise Amazingly Fast ATV

Luxury automobile / yacht manufacturer and tuning company Platune today announced what seems to be the most enthusiastic project nowadays: an amazingly fast and safe ATV that would be able to ride on dunes easier than anytime before. Although it looks a bit awkward at first look, the vehicle is more or less based on a snowmobile with big front wheels for increased handling and maneuverability without no slippage of the wheels.

And because we told you it is incredibly fast, you should probably know that this Platune-Sand X project accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in no less than 2.8 seconds. Top speed? Somewhere around 185 km/h which should be enough in offroad environments.

Unfortunately for those of you who already started making plans to replace your faithful camel that helped you
travel across the Sahara so many times with this high-end vehicle, manufacturers will release it as a very limited editions, with only a few units to be built in the near future.

“Platune is proud to announce a highly promising cooperation with Sand-X, a Swiss company specializing in Off-road vehicles. It was only a question of time until the company would expand its crusade from t to the roads and waters of the civilized world to the unforgiving terrain of the desserts. And they could not find a better fit. The future collaboration of Platune and Sand-X is not a coincidence but a rather a gratifying completion in their mutual quest for luxury, perfection, and exclusiveness. Both companies simply strive for an extraordinary driving experience, and they surely accomplished their goal,” Platune said in statement.

Because “a picture is worth a thousand of words” saying is perfectly true in this case, we'll let you enjoy some photos with the newly-designed/revolutionary/safest/fastest/most powerful dune bike.
