Ever walked into a corporative office only to see the CEO has the actual Pirelli calendar posted next to his big desk? If not, it’s because the notoriously exclusive calendar - which features glamorous shots of beautiful women - is reserved for important clients and VIPs only. It’s been around since 1964, and a retrospective volume reproducing the complete calendars will soon be released.
To be fully honest, saying it’s the 50th-anniversary is not entirely accurate. You see, the first issue of the exclusive annual publication may have appeared back in 1964, but let us not forget that the publication was discontinued after the 1974 issue.

It was a gesture the editorial team did, an economizing cut-back in response to the world recession from the oil shock. It was only ten years later the Calendar would be published again.

We’re not looking to list the entire group of world renown models that starred in the Calendar throughout the years, but we’d like to mention the ones who did for the 2015 issue. Adriana Lima, Natalia Vodianova, Raquel Zimmerman, Cameron Russell, Gigi Hadid, Candice Huffine and many other beauties were there.

Aside from putting all the issues together, Taschen - the German art book publisher in charge of the volume - is also offering bonus features that include rarely and never-before-seen behind-the-scenes images of the shoots.

Moreover, the volume - which will come out in September - will also contain the unpublished 1963 calendar, and a selection of “censored” images deemed too risque by the editors of the time.
