Pirelli Concludes Le Castellet F1 Test in France

Pedro de la Rosa just helped Pirelli get past the 7000-kilometre (4359 miles) mark in testing their new F1-spec tires for the 2011 season of the series. The Spaniard got behind the wheel of the Toyota TF109 this week and did no less than 1118.5 kilometres (695 miles) throughout the two days of action on the Le Castellet circuit in southern France.

Thanks to the French circuit's different layouts, Pirelli could test a multitude of configurations at Le Castellet, which gave them quite the feedback on their 2011 rubber. While the first day was briefly affected by rain – which also gave De la Rosa the opportunity to test the wet tires – the remaining action was tackled on soft and super-soft compound.

These have been two of the most productive days of testing that we have seen yet, and I’m particularly encouraged by the consistency of the times that we managed to set on both the short and the long runs, demonstrating that the tires are quick to reach a constant level of peak performance,” said De la Rosa after the 2-day test.

Pedro’s knowledge and feedback has given us some valuable information to finalize the second compound that we will bring to Abu Dhabi, as we finish our testing in Europe this month. Next week’s test at Paul Ricard will enable us to complete our test programme on wet and intermediate tires, taking advantage of the facilities available there,” added Pirelli’s motorsport director Paul Hembery.

In order to make it clear enough for everyone, know that Pirelli's next stop on their testing schedule will be at Paul Ricard circuit – also for 2 days – after which the Italian tire manufacturer will bring its medium and soft compounds for a test in Abu Dhabi, between November 19 and 20.
