Piquet Threaten Renault with Legal Case

The Piquets must really love being in the spotlight, or else one cannot explain their constant desire to make the headlines while linked with the crash-gate. In a time when everybody wants to forget all about the race-fixing scandal that happened earlier this year, the triple F1 champion once again showed up in the media with a new attack over Renault.

It seems the most famous of the Piquets now demands some public apologies from the French manufacturer following their proven guilty in the crash gate. Apparently, he wants those apologies in the media within the next 2 weeks, or else he'll personally pursue Renault in court.

Renault has two weeks. If I hear nothing, there will be a complaint,” said Piquet Sr. to Germany's Auto Motor und Sport.

Shortly after the race-fixing claims made by Nelson Piquet Jr. and his father surfaced in the media a couple of months ago, both Renault and former team manager Flavio Briatore issued a legal case of their own against the Piquets for the allegations they'd made. Prior to the FIA verdict in the case, however, Renault decided to renounce the legal proceedings, but did not come with a public apology to the two Brazilians.

As for Briatore, the 59-year old Italian has started a war of his own in recent weeks. Not only he didn't withdraw his legal case against the Piquets, but he also launched a new one against the International Automobile Federation (FIA) in order to clear his name. Briatore still states his innocence in the crash-gate.

Amid increased criticism over his son for being an active part in the crash-gate, Piquet Sr. revealed he doesn't understand why people are so angry with his actions. To exemplify it, however, he found no better way to do that than pick on one of his countrymen (who can no longer defend himself).

Ayrton Senna won two championships like that. In 1983 the F3 championship against Martin Brundle, and in 1990 he was world champion after pushing Alain Prost off the circuit completely deliberately,” insisted Piquet.
