Piquet Jr. Signs NASCAR Truck Deal with Billy Ballew Motorsports

Nelson Piquet Jr. will resume action inside NASCAR's Camping World Truck Series in the upcoming couple of months, after having secured enough sponsorship to make the grid of 3 events in the near future.

We're talking about the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 (Charlotte Motor Speedway), scheduled May 21, the WinStar World Casino 400k (Texas Motor Speedway) scheduled June 4 and the VFW 200 (Michigan International Speedway) on June 12, all of which he'll be contesting at the wheel of a Billy Ballew Motorsports prepared machine.

The Brazilian has so far competed in only one NASCAR Truck event, the season opening round at Daytona International Speedway, where he took his No 1 Toyota all the way to 6th place at the finish line (first Brazilian driver in the series' history to finish inside the Top 10 in a race). Additionally, he also did a couple of outings in NASCAR's feeder series ARCA, where he contested at Daytona and Texas for Eddie Sharp Racing.

I can't wait to get behind the wheel of a truck again. I really enjoyed racing at Daytona and learned a lot. I gain a better understanding of how these trucks handle with each lap I take. These upcoming races will be exactly what I need to continue growing as a driver,” said Piquet Jr., whose first Truck experience happened with Red Horse Racing.

Everyone is very excited to have Nelson racing with us. He's obviously an incredibly talented driver. I think these three races will give him some valuable seat time, which is just what he needs to continue developing his abilities,” added team boss Billy Ballew.
