Fux Fuchsia or simply pink, call it whatever you like. But this particular example of the 720S is bespoke, a one-off created by MSO to the specification of U.S-based entrepreneur Michael Fux.
Presented to its rightful owner at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the MSO-ified 720S is more than meets the eye. Sure the paintwork identifies the car as being designed to order, but then again, the automaker offered Mr. Fux the exclusive rights to use Fux Fuchsia on any other McLaren vehicle. And speaking of the paint, the pink originates from Rolls-Royce’s color palette.
“MSO provides McLaren owners with virtually limitless possibilities to tailor a car exactly to their needs and tastes; unique paint colors and finishes, custom leather and stitching and exotic materials are all available within a bespoke commission, while beyond this there are opportunities all the way up to complete vehicles designed to individual specification,” declared Jolyon Nash, the Woking-based company’s executive director of sales and marketing.
McLaren Special Operations also had its way with the interior of the 720S, with the personalization division beautifying the door appliques, pinstripe on the steering wheel, and rearview mirror. MSO Bespoke white leather wraps the dash and the seats, while the floor mats are Alcantara.
The automaker refuses to comment on the financial details, but based on how MSO rolls, this bad boy is worth something in the ballpark of £300,000. By comparison, the McLaren 720S in Luxury specification starts from £218,020 in the United Kingdom. Over in the U.S., 720S pricing kicks off at $288,845.
Like all other 720S models currently in existence, Mr. Fux’s pride and joy relies on a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that can be programmed to pop and crackle at startup. In this application, the engine develops 720 PS (710 ponies) and 770 Nm (568 pound-feet), leaving the likes of the Ferrari 488 GTB left for dead.
With zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) coming in as little as 2.9 seconds, the 720S keeps on gaining speed until the speedo indicates 341 km/h (212 mph).
