One of the most exclusive models in the world will get even more so, after Italian designer Pininfarina released the first sketch of the Alfa Romeo-based design study and concept which will be showcased at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show in March.
"The Pininfarina new concept is meant to be part of the tradition of successful spiders born from the relationship with Alfa Romeo, among the most significant and long-lasting ones in the automobile history, and interprets the innovative vision of an antique theme strongly present in the
Pininfarina roots, the 2-seater spider," says the Italian house in a release.
"An iconic object that, binding with an ideal thread the past and the future of Pininfarina, starts the celebrations for its 80th anniversary, representing at the same time an homage to the Alfa Romeo 100th birthday."
As you may imagine, that's about all the pieces of information Pininfarina released to go along with the sketch. As you have gotten accustomed by now, details will surface closer to the official unveiling of the concept.
Apart from the project previewed in this sketch, Pinnfarina has been very quiet last year. The company focused on trying to sell a 50.7 percent stake in the business as a result of a debt agreement made with lender banks back in 2008.
In addition, the design house rented its Grugliasco facility to Italian businessman Gianmario Rossignolo, who says he intends to revive the De Tomaso sports car here.
