Introduced at the 2013 Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance, the BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe concept looks like it could preview a second-generation 8 Series model. At least that’s what most BMW enthusiasts hope for, while a recent rumor coming from a company insider claims it may very well happen.
But with no official word from Munich, an 8 Series revival (maybe as a Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe competitor) is still a long way off. However, the uncertainty didn’t stop the guys over at Autoprojecoes to envision a production version based on the Pininfarina concept. Basically just a toned down version of the Gran Lusso, the so-called 850i successor sports more earthly wheels, current BMW production headlamps and slightly different kidney grille and front apron.
“My idea was to design a production version of the Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe concept. The result was a stylish and sporti 7 Series Coupe which could resurect the deceased 8 Series model,” the artist said.
What say you, should BMW build a new 8 Series Coupe based on the Pininfarina Gran Lusso concept?
