Pikes Peak Meets Ken Block's 1,400 HP Hoonicorn V2. Climbkhana Is Created

It's not easy being Ken Block, and I'm not referring to his rather mediocre stint in the WRC. No, I'm talking about what he does best, and since I haven't tasted his scrambled eggs recipe, I'm going to assume that's drifting.

The thing with coming up with such a good video as the first Gymkhana was is that you have to keep besting yourself afterward. He did that with the second clip in the Gymkhana series, but after that it was a case of more of the same and, believe it or not, seeing him drift got a little boring.

He did change the cars as he moved from one sponsor to another, and obviously changed the scenery as well, but at the end of the day, it was still Ken Block in a powerful car going sideways among various obstacles. It was still cool, but it lacked that element of surprise.

He did try something new with last month's Battle Broyale, but even though the organizer denies it, the competition looked staged, which instantly shaved half of its interest factor. Besides, it was still Ken Block drifting in the dust, even though he had brought some friends along for the ride this time.

Now, though, after launching his new set of wheels - the improved Hoonicorn V2 - he also teased his next major project. It looks like the 1,400 hp monster is going to go up the famous 12.42-mile hill climb at Pikes Peak next year, and getting to the top quickly will not be too high on his agenda.

Making as much smoke as possible, on the other hand, will. Don't be surprised if he'll require a tire swap midway through the climb, although with Toyo Tires as one of the sponsors, that shouldn't really be a problem.

The bad news is - there obviously has to be one - that the run is scheduled for next summer. Well, if we can wait for the next season of Game of Thrones, we can wait for Ken Block too.
