Pikes Peak Hyundai Genesis Video Released

There are only a couple of days left until Rhys Millen will get behind the wheel of a Hyundai Genesis PM580 and set out to beat the 10:01.408 record set by Nobuhiro Tajima in 2007 on the famous Pikes Peak. In preparation for the June 27 event, Red Bull, the sponsor of the car, released a video showing the roaring PM580 and the lengthy process which made it what it is today.

The car, as already announced, packs a 4.1 liter Hyundai Lambda V6 engine and comes with a carbon fiber body. The powerplant uses a HKS T04Z turbocharger, bar and plate intercooler, custom stainless steel exhaust manifolds to allow it to reach 750 hp.

Power is sent to the wheels via a Tilton Racing Clutch, Weismann semi-automatic transmission and two Qaulife differentials. They spin the 17 inch HRE rims with carbon fiber Brembo brakes as the car flies by.

"The power to weight ratio that we were able to achieve is far superior than our competitors' and that balance and handling that I've experienced in the last few days is gonna give me the confidence to rock it up that mountain,"
Millen says.

Mad Skills" Millen will not only try to beat "Monster" Tajima's record, but shatter it, as he plans to get the Genesis PM580 through the 156 turns of the climb in under ten minutes.

The race is run on a course with 156 turns that begins at 9,390 feet and finishes at the 14,110-foot summit of Pikes Peak. Tune in on June 27 for updates.
