Pikachu McLaren 650S Is All Pokémon, Japanese Pop Culture Mclarens Are Trending

We're here to bring you one Pokémon that should be incredibly difficult to catch - when Pikachu is animated by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8, that conclusion is only normal.
On a more serious note (as serious as the topic allows it to be), the McLaren 650S in the image above comes with a Pikachu take. The hood and the doors have welcomed the wrap elements required for the pun, while the factory hue of this Woking machine meant there was no need for the entire car to be wrapped - lens tip to Marchettino for the pic.

While some of us dream of becoming Pokémon Masters, while others are simply amused by the idea, we have to admit Japanese pop culture Mclarens are now a trend. And we have to report them all.

It all started last year, with... an unfulfilled expectation. After Ferrari turned to a cease and desist letter to convince Canadian DJ Deadmau5 to remove the Nyan Cat elements from his 458 Spider, the world expected the theme to show up on the electronic music producer's McLaren 650S.

The Woking machine got a Space Invaders wrap instead, with Deadmau5 saving the Nyan Cat thing for this Lamborghini Huracan Purracan.

As for an example of an actual McLaren that had been given a Japanese pop culture makeover, we need to look no further than the Doraemon 675LT we showed you earlier this week.

Perhaps there's a secret behind McLaren appearing to be on its way to becoming the unofficial supercar brand of such shenanigans. While McLarens can be used for drifting, this is far from their top asset, so perhaps the clear visibility offered by their less-than-sideways behavior could be the secret here. Then again, given the sheer pace Woking's creations can deliver, such a path doesn't seem to make too much sense.
