Pick One: Five Colors Available for the Brake Calipers of the 2017 Ford GT

In the fall of 2016, Ford will finally start to make the 2017 Ford GT supercar. For those 500 lucky bastards who got their hands on the first two years of production, I can’t help but be very jealous of them.

I mean, what other supercar gives you the possibility to choose from not one, not two, not three, not four, but five paint finishes for the brake calipers? I’m not joking, ladies and gents, the 2017 Ford GT configurator lets you select the standard black calipers with carbon ceramic rotors or the optional Silver, Blue, Orange, and Red finishes. The superlatives in customization for the soon-to-start-production GT don’t end here.

According to Barb Whalen, Ford design manager, color and materials, his team went the extra mile. “We walked a fine line with the color and materials in this vehicle - infusing energy through use of color and balance while working to ensure the raw appeal of a performance car still shines through. Everything in the all-new GT was intentionally designed to express ultimate performance.”

In the area of exterior hues, the palette offers Frozen White, Shadow Black, Matte Black, Ingot Silver, Liquid Grey, Liquid Blue, Liquid Red, Triple Yellow. Customers can enhance the looks with no less than seven types of go-faster stripes.

For the most demanding customers, the front, rear, and side lowers can be finished in Shadow Black, Matte Carbon Fiber, or Gloss Carbon Fiber. As for the interior, there are four colors to choose from: Dark Energy (a.k.a. all black), Launch Control (orange), Light Speed (dark blue), and Re-Entry (white).

Customization aside, the 2017 Ford GT has to perform if it wants to be taken seriously in a world where the McLaren 650S is regarded as being “just another supercar.” To shut the pieholes of critics, Ford has three things in store for them. One: over 600 horsepower from a 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6. Two: look forward to “one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any production car.” Three: those flabbergasting looks.
