The news emerged on Monday, during the unveiling of Mercedes GP's livery for the 2010 season. The media present at the Mercedes-Benz Museum revealed that they will all hit the road to Woking later this week, as they were not invited to Maranello by Ferrari.
So we're basically going to find out the details of the new Ferrari challenger via the team's official website, during the morning of January 28. The car will then make its official debut prior to the 2010 race season on the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, starting February 1st (next Monday). The order in which the three drivers will take the wheel of the car during the 3 days of testing is yet to be unveiled to the media.
Asked about the name of the new Ferrari car – as previous reports have hinted that it will be named 281 – Ferrari spokesman Luca Colajanni refused to issue any comments. Normally, the 2010 car would have to bear the classic designation of all Ferrari machines of this decade (the letter “F” from Ferrari, followed by the year in question).
The only exception to that rule happened last year, when Ferrari celebrated 60 years of Formula One racing and decided to name their car F60.
“As usual, the name of the car will be revealed the day of the launch,” said Colajanni.
