Now that the Alfa is out of the hat, it’s time to see how it’s stacking up against its competitors. In this regard, the new Giulia QV will be going up against the likes of the Mercedes-AMG C63 S, the ATS-V and the BMW M3. As you figured it out already, we’re here to compare the Italian against the benchmark in the segment.
Looks will always be a subjective matter. Everyone has a different taste and what works for some, might not work for others. That’s why I won’t pass any kind of judgement in this respect and leave you to make up your mind about which one looks better.

However, some people have said that the new Giulia looks like it was made up of pre-existing parts that were simply glued together to bring out a new model. Even if that were the case, the designers should be praised because they did it perfectly.

We will discuss the most objective side of things, the performance and specs.

The F80 M3 uses a 3-liter biturbo inline 6-cylinder engine good for 431 HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque, developed by the M division. It will allow the car to run up to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 or 4.3 seconds depending on the gearbox.

That’s because the M3 is available with a manual 6-speed gearbox and a 7-speed dual-clutch DCT box that is the faster and more comfortable choice.

The M car also uses a lot of carbon fiber and that shows, the M3 losing nearly 200 kg (440 lbs) compared to its predecessor, tipping the scale at just over 1,500 kg (3,300 lbs) when equipped with the manual gearbox.

On the other hand, the Alfa Romeo brags with the same weight also due to carbon fiber usage but has even more impressive specs. Under the bonnet lies a Ferrari-developed twin-turbo 3-liter V6 that’s good for 510 HP.

Furthermore, the Giulia Qadrifoglio Verde will accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds. Even though the Italians didn’t specify in what guise will it be able to do so, we’re assuming that’s the time for the two-pedal version.

As you can see, that’s the same level of power as the C63 AMG S model but that might not be as important as you might think. After all, the BMW held its own and even beat the Merc around a track in a recent comparison so you know that power isn’t everything. However, in the case of the Giulia, the weight difference is in her favor and that’s something to reckon with.

Until we get to see them both on a track though, we’ll have to make due with our own photo comparison. Enjoy!
