It seems there's still life flowing through Peugeot's pipes, as the French carmaker has its resources bunched up into the development of a Chinese-market car. A new mid-size SUV will soon be available on the Chinese automobile market and it belongs to the Lion. The vehicle will be receiving the “6008” nameplate and it seems that it will receive a production version in 2015.
There have been rumors that it might make its grand appearance at next year’s Beijing Motor Show, likely as a concept. A picture showing the Peugeot 6008 is available and it seems as if it were created for a presentation. The new mid-size SUV is apparently being developed off the new EMP2 platform, which so far has produced the 308 and Citroen C4 Picasso.
Concerning its production, the mid-size SUV will be built by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture in China and will come standard with a 4-cylinder, 1.6 -liter turbocharged engine. Besides this, the car will incorporate an optional brand new V6 that was designed especially for the Asian markets.
In case you were wondering about the price, the base model starts somewhere around 200,000 yuan ($33,000 / €24,000). When it comes to the range-topping version, the price changes a bit and will rise up to 250,000 yuan ($49,400 / €36,000).
Seems to be a very attractive-looking SUV. Why not in Europe, Peugeot?
