Peugeot unveils their new Satelis 2 400i maxi scooter, an urban/ sub-urban personal transportation solution which embeds the agility of two-wheeled machines and automotive-derived convenience and instrumentation.
The Satelis 2 400i is powered by the same engine which breathes life in Peugeot’s Metropolis three-wheels: a liquid-cooled 398.9cc 4-stroke, 4-valve single which can produce as much as 37.2 hp @ 7,250 revs and a maximum torque of 38.1 Nm (28.1 lb-ft), with a generous 10,000 km (6,200 miles) service interval mated to an automatic transmission.
This nifty commuter has a 784mm () seat height and its step-through design makes it easy to use even for shorter riders. Beefy 120mm and 150mm (front and rear) tires shoe the 14” cast wheels, and a 260mm front rotor and a 240mm rear one take care of the needed stopping power by means of hydraulic calipers. Suspensions employ a 37mm hydraulic telescopic fork and 4-position adjustable dual coil over spring shocks in the rear.
One of the really neat features of the new Satelis 2 400i is its generous storage capacity. Two full-face helmets can fit under the seat, adding solid functionality to this maxi scooter. Larger object such as tennis rackets or a mid-sized briefcase can also fit aboard the Satelis, and this will definitely be a major selling point.
Standard equipment also includes a tall windscreen, LED lights and an on-board 12V socket, with a remote control for the storage compartment being optional. The dash is inspired from the automotive industry and offers digital readings on multiple parameters, such as average and instantaneous fuel consumption, remaining range and more.
The Peugeot Satelis 2 400i will arrive in a Premium trim with a €5,990 ($7,750) price tag and a RS version sold for €6,290 ($8,145).
