The French are beaten but not defeated, and Peugeot is ready to fight back with as many as eight now cars by 2015, including the four-door coupe we just mentioned. But there are other cars of particular interest to us, such as a replacement for the 308 hatchback and the 3008 crossover.
In a recent editorial, we said that European carmakers should go small, cheap and they should build crossovers to adapt to this market. One of the car that captured out attention was the Peugeot HR1 Concept, a really small crossovers with two doors, but beefy looks. This later evolved into the 2012 Urban Crossover Concept, which will soon enter production as the 2008.

But the 2008 is a four-door crossover built on the 208 platform. It doesn’t have the beefy yet compact looks of the HR1 and thus can’t compete with the Nissan Juke. It’s more of a jacked up wagon that will actually replace the 207 SW.

But Peugeot will risk it all and introduce an even smaller crossover by 2015, called the 1008 and featuring only three doors. To learn more about Peugeot’s future range, check out the latest issue of L’Automobike Magazine.
