PSA Peugeot Citroen and Russian company Agromash Holding have signed an agreement for Peugeot vehicles to be assembled and distributed in Kazakhstan.
According to PSA, the production will start in June 2013 with a wide range of models, including 301, 3008 508 and Partner, while the capacity will reach 4,000 units for year at the beginning, with a possible extension to 10,000 units in the future.
"This project in Kazakhstan is an important milestone for PSA Peugeot Citroen business development in the region of Commonwealth of Independent States... It will contribute to our growing and diversified presence in the region, with a larger manufacturing base dedicated to our local subsidiaries - driven operations in Russia and Ukraine and to our importers - based sales in Azerbaijan, Belarus and Moldova," Peugeot Citroen Managing Director for Russia, Ukraine and CIS Bernd Schantz said.
The new Asian assembly line is expected to generate more than 300 jobs in France and about 150 in Kazakhstan.
Along with the above-mentioned lineup of models, the French manufacturer will also introduce the Russian-built Peugeot 408 on the Kazakh market.
