Peugeot's New Online Competition Takes to Hands-on Approach

Have you ever seen one of those silly competitions where a group of people have too keep their hand on a car, and the one who is the last to take it off wins it? Silly isn’t it, especially when those involved don’t gave all their... screws tightened down.

Peugeot has managed to think up an online version of the competition. The French carmaker has never been the one to shy away from strange tricks of the trade and it know that social media, not television, is actually what brings the big marketing bucks these days.

Basically, a dedicated website was created, where contestants were asked to keep their mouse... hand glued to a car. The rules were simple: pick a car you like (between the 207 CC, 308 CC and RCZ), log in with your Facebook account and then hold onto it for however long you can. Beat everybody and you win a whole week with it to testdrive.

While sitting there with nothing to do, you can check how some of your competitors are doing, and also enjoy the backgrounds and info that Peugeot has provided. The carmaker stands to gain hugely, as a total of 9,000 words of publicity gets pumped into your head, so even if you don’t win a testdrive, you’ll be interested in the car.

We immediately got the idea of taping down the mouse button and going out for a drink, but Peugeot has thought of this, and every once in a while the website will ask you to complete a simple task like typing a letter on the keyboard. Mess up and you still have three more hearts left to give you another chance at winning.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
