Special editions are the bread and butter of any posh small car, especially if it's French. So to give its Audi TT rival an extra boost in sales, Peugeot have announced a high-spec ‘Red Carbon’ RCZ for the British market.
The car doesn't differ very much from the usual look. It's based on the RCZ Sport top trim level and is available in two colors: Moroccan Red or Nera Black. These shades are complemented by the ‘Black Pack’ which includes matt black roof arches, brilliant black front grill, door mirror covers and brake calipers.
For the interior, Peugeot chose ‘Red Carbon’ seats, which are actually black and are stitched in red. You also get the same treatment for the dash, the shifter and the gear lever. It looks almost as sober as an Audi in there.
Standard trim is generous and includes Xenon, directional and self-levelling headlamps, 19'' 'Solstice' alloy wheels, a Connect Navigation (RT6) system, Audio, CD and satellite navigation system. Only 300 of these will be built and the premium isn't that high compared to the regular RCZ. So if you want a red coupe, the 'Red Carbon' is worth looking into.
Prices start at £26,000 for the 1.6 THP with 156 hp and can go up to £28,400 for the more powerful version of that engine, with 200 hp. You can also have it with a 2-liter GDi diesel rated at 163 hp and costing £27,850. That car gets the best fuel economy, but is also the slowest, with a 0 to 62 mph time of 8.7 seconds.
