Earlier this week, we reported that Peugeot had taken the EX1 electric vehicle concept to China, showcasing the car at the Taipingsi military airport in Chengdu.

Subsequently, Peugeot has issued a press release, informing us that the EV was taken to the airport, where the French carmaker invited 200 members of the Chinese and Western media to enter it in a series of tests, in order to show its dynamic capabilities.

The EX1 was put through its paces by French explorer Nicolas Varnier and Chinese blogger Han Han, with the vehicle managing to set multiple records for an electric vehicle.

Vernier managed to take the vehicle past the 62 mph mark in 3.49 seconds, a new unofficial acceleration record, while also achieving a symbolic longitudinal acceleration of 1G, over a distance of 39 meters.

Han Han set new official records for the 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile runs with times of 7:08:62 and 12:67:54 respectively. These records have been certified and will be approved by the Chinese Auto Sports Federation, which assisted the tests.

We'll remind you that the EX1 uses one electric motor for the front axle and another one for the rear axle, offering a combined output of 335 hp and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque.

"This series of performances represents a world benchmark in terms of acceleration for an electric vehicle and testifies to the advanced, high-tech know-how of Peugeot when it comes to alternative propulsion methods for the car. These records achieved in Chengdu represent the 6th event already organized by Peugeot in China in 2010, the Marque's bicentenary year," stated the press release.
