The Peugeot 307 CC receives a new 1.6 liter turbocharged petrol unit and a fresh 6-speed automatic gearbox for the UK market, thus continuing the downsizing trend.
The turbocharged 1.6 liter THP engine delivers 156 bhp and meets Euro 5 emission standards. It is now matted to a new “AT6” 6-speed automatic gearbox and the manufacturer has positioned it at the top of the petrol range.
The PSA Peugeot Citroen group has commissioned “Aisin AW” to manufacture the “AT6” automatic gearbox, offering the first strict specifications for the product. Engineering-wise, the fresh gearbox is close to the “AM6”, the gearbox to which the group’s top HDi engines (V6, 2.2 liter and 2.0 liter) are matted to. The “AT6” can handle a maximum torque of 300Nm - as a comparison, the “AM6” can withstand up to 450 Nm of torque, being fitted to diesel engines.
The new gearbox is lighter and more compact than the “AM6” and has been designed to reduce the French manufacturer’s vehicles’ fuel consumption and CO2 emissions - as compared to its predecessor, it manages to deliver a 7% reduction for these figures. This has been accomplished through the use of a more efficient torque converter and a reduction in internal friction losses.
It offers two driving modes: automatic, which adapts to the driver’s style and sequential control, which enables the user to have more control. This fresh automatic model can be ordered in SE and GT trim levels. This is an update over the current THP 140 automatic model which is only available in SE trim level.
