Peugeot 308 Cabriolet Rendered

New company officials and deals with the employees are probably more important for Peugeot, as the French carmaker still isn't recovering despite the fact the European auto market has bottomed out.

Still, what they lack in prestige and reliability, Peugeot usually make up for with style and presence, and the new 308 is a perfect example of this. One part family car, one part LED light sculpture, it's received some positive reviews since its launch.

Diversification is what's on the agenda next for the 308 and its platform. There will be a sedan derivative still based on the EMP2 platform, which we think will be called the 408. There might also be a convertible, though we're not sure if they have the resources to build one.

Unlike its predecessor, which had been converted into a longer, slightly wider coupe+convertible, the new 308 could be done up as a traditional Cabrio. Theophilus Chin has rendered such a car in a style similar to the Golf Cabrio or the Audi A3 Cabrio. A short body, only two doors and restricted rear passenger space make this more of a 2+2.

There hasn't been any sightings of this type of Peugeot, so this rendering is purely speculative. But we doubt the automaker will resist having a go at making it.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
