Peugeot 307 Production to Start in Nigeria

The Nigerian division of French manufacturer Peugeot established a new production line to assemble the 307 model and replace the 406 range. Peugeot Automobile Nigeria, often referred to as PAN, underwent several financial problems and some voices even claimed that its production plant might shut down operations. Nevertheless, the company finalized work on the production line and is now expecting the commissioning scheduled to take place on November 23.

According to a report by just-auto.com, the daily output of the plant will be 22 units, with an annual production goal of 7,000 vehicles.

The 307 is one of the best selling models in Peugeot's lineup, especially thanks to government incentives established around the world. Peugeot 307 is also available in China starting September in both hatch and sedan bodystyles.

Projected to go on sale in China the upcoming months, the Peugeot 307 sedan will be offered at a price between 106,800 yuan ($15,640) and 146,800 yuan, and the Peugeot 307 hatchback is priced at 103,800-153,800 yuan.

As for the European flavor, the 307 comes with several gasoline and diesel configurations. The standard option is a 1.4-liter 16V that generates 90 horsepower at 5,250 rpm and 133 Nm of torque at 3,250 rpm. This means it can push the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.8 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 106.9 mph (172 km/h).

The top-of-the-range version is the 2.0-liter 16V unit that releases 177 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 202 Nm of torque at 4,750 rpm. It propels the 307 from naught to sixty in 8.2 seconds and tops at 136.7 mph (220 km/h).
